Syracuse City Parks Unveils New Projects in Eastwood

Syracuse City Parks Unveils New Projects in Eastwood

Appel Osborne had the privilege of being invited to the Syracuse Department of Parks and Recreation's announcement on Friday unveiling new projects underway in the Eastwood Neighborhood. Three parks will be getting improvements and new features that encompass overwhelming feedback from Eastwood neighbors. The Parks Department was dedicated to garnering community support and input through a series of workshops. These parks have been a part of the Eastwood Neighborhood for generations and will be rejuvenated and modernized through these projects.

Huntington Park will boast a new state-of-the-art hexagonal basketball court designed by Appel Osborne.  The design is the first of its kind in the region, allowing for adaptable uses outside of traditional game play. The project at Huntington Park is also exploring expansion of the adjacent East Woods Skate Plaza.

The City Parks Department also announced that Norwood Park is slated to get a new playground and Cummings Field will be transformed to a baseball-themed splash pad.

Being a part of the enhancement of our local community is one of the most rewarding aspects of our profession. We look forward to seeing the Eastwood community enjoying these improvements.
