SUNY Oswego Dedicates Memorial Garden

SUNY Oswego Dedicates Memorial Garden

Appel Osborne had the opportunity to design a memorial garden in collaboration with classmates from the SUNY Oswego Class of 1989 to honor classmates lost in the Lockerbie Bombing and 9/11 tragedies.  A ceremony was held on Saturday, June 6, to formally dedicate the garden to the four lost in the events.  Alumni visited the campus from all over the country to honor their lost friends and classmates and see the garden that memorializes their memory.  The garden features a circular plaza with a central memorial sculpture, masonry seat wall, ornamental paving, lighting and landscaping.  Plantings native to Scotland surround the central sculpture, while four Sugar Maple trees, the state tree of New York, were planted to commemorate each of those lost.  Appel Osborne is honored to have been a part of this very special project.
