Save the Rain Program Receives Award

Onondaga County’s Save the Rain program has received an Environmental Excellence award from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).  The NYSDEC recognized the program noting that Onondaga County has transformed the “civic strip” in downtown Syracuse with multiple projects which are capturing approximately 6.2 million gallons of storm water annually.  The photo featured in the article below shows a Save the Rain project at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo where Appel Osborne Landscape Architecture (AOLA) has been fortunate to be a part of multiple Save the Rain projects.  In addition to the Storm Water Wetland Project featured in the photo, AOLA has also designed the green roof on the new elephant building as well as green initiatives in the courtyard.  Overall, the Save the Rain program was recognized for an innovative abatement program to improve water quality in the Onondaga Lake watershed.    AOLA is happy to have been part of the team for multiple Save the Rain projects.  Congratulations to Onondaga County and the Save the Rain program for this exciting achievement!  Click the link below to read an article about the Save the Rain program and the award:
