Community Dedication of the OCC Coyne Fields Complex
Onondaga Community College celebrated the community dedication of their new baseball and softball field complex on Thursday, April 24, 2014. Appel Osborne is honored to have been the prime designer for this project and is happy to see it come to a successful fruition. The synthetic turf fields, which allow for early spring and late fall usage, are located on the College’s North Campus. The stadium entrance features a plaza space to promote gathering and circulation, concourse areas along the first and third baselines of the baseball field for informal viewing and seating, and access to the softball field. The baseball field includes all related amenities including sunken dugouts, pitching bullpens, team rooms, storage, and a centrally located batting cage located under fixed bleacher seating for 475. The baseball outfield is also configured for soccer, lacrosse and football. The softball field also includes enclosed dugouts, pitching bullpens and bleacher seating for 475. Additional features of the complex include open hillside seating/viewing areas, press box, perimeter fencing, scoreboard, backstop, bleacher netting protection and outfield safety net. The new facility is also equipped with concessions, ticket booths and public restrooms.
