New Facility and Community Gateway
- Site design for a new two-story 55,500 GSF medical facility in Downtown Syracuse, NY.
- Coordination for the remediation of significantly contaminated soils in compliance with NYSDEC regulations for Brownfield Cleanup Program Sites.
- Permitting and agency coordination to obtain Site Plan Approval including SEQRA assessment and site plans for approval by the Syracuse City Planning Board, Syracuse City Engineering Department, and Syracuse City Department of Public Works.
- Site design includes streetscape and neighborhood unification, building entry plaza, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, 120+/- space parking lot, signage, ornamental fencing, landscaping, site lighting, site utilities, and storm water management.
- Streetscape design includes decorative pavement and tree plantings.
2013 Master Plan
- Master Plan for future development and renovations of current facility.
- Development of Master Plan included guidelines from the City of Syracuse South East Gateway Neighborhood Design Plan.
- A site analysis of the existing streetscape conditions, infrastructure, sidewalks, curbs and other features were also evaluated.
- Final design embraced an existing elevated railroad track barrier between facilities.
- Site improvements included closure of an existing street to create a new plaza, improved pedestrian safety, bus stop location, redevelopment of sidewalks to create a pedestrian friendly corridor, night lighting to establish a “campus” setting that also served as a gateway into the downtown business district.
- Street modifications included traffic calming techniques to reduce speed, shorten street crossing distance and allow bicycle travel lanes.
