URMC Celebrates Ribbon Cutting at Innovative New Facility
In a significant milestone for mental health care, Appel Osborne proudly contributed to the successful completion of a pioneering medical facility dedicated to children and teens facing mental health crises. The recent ribbon-cutting ceremony at the University of Rochester Medical Center marked the official opening of this groundbreaking center, which stands as the first of its kind in the region. The Brighter Days Pediatric Mental Health Urgent Care offers support and care for children and young adults who no longer have to seek care in an adult mental health facility.
A central component of the project was the design of the facility's entryway—a crucial element that sets the tone for visitors seeking solace and support. With a focus on creating a welcoming and serene environment, accessible walkways approach the building through colorful gardens. Plantings, natural elements, and ornamental grasses were selected to enhance the therapeutic atmosphere along with seating and open green space lawn areas.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the redesigned entryway plays a crucial role in supporting the center's mission. By providing a serene and supportive environment from the moment visitors arrive, the landscape architecture design contributes to the overall experience offered at the facility.
Appel Osborne is grateful for this opportunity to provide design that promotes healing and well-being. These important projects reinforce our belief in the transformative power of thoughtful landscape architecture.
