Onondaga Community College Recognized for Sustainability Efforts
Onondaga Community College (OCC) is being recognized on a national scale for their efforts in sustainability on their campus. Knowledge Review Magazine has named OCC one of the 10 Best Green Schools in America 2018.
Appel Osborne is proud to see our site design acknowledged in the article. One of the examples referenced as part of the College’s green infrastructure is the West Quad which was demolished and redesigned by Appel Osborne in 2015. The site includes many sustainable design features including the use of multiple rain gardens. Water from surrounding pavement and grass flows into the gardens and infiltrates the soil. This process cleans the water and prevents excess storm water from flowing directly into Furnace Brook.
Our firm is honored to work with an institution that makes sustainability a priority. OCC strongly supports an eco-friendly environment and encourages student interaction with those initiatives. Congratulations to the College on this admirable accomplishment.
